Summer Lab Research Interships at Masaryk University is a 9-week, credit-bearing course that will combine an internship in the laboratories with a cultural program that will introduce the Czech Republic and the Central Europe.
Students will be required to work at least 250-275 hours (8 hours a day, 4 days a week, 8 weeks in total) on a specific project assigned and supervised by local faculty members. The list of available research placements as well as their description can be viewed here:
summeratmasaryk.cz/research-lab-internship.
In the step 2 of the application please specify what project you are interested the most, and you can list two other projects where you would like to be placed in case the first one is not available. In the motivation letter you can elaborate why you are interested in the given project(s).
If none of the above research proposals interest you, we can try to arrange an individual research project at our Faculty of Pharmacy in one of their six departments. We would ask that you select one or two departments where you are interested in applying and in the online application select ‘other’ for the research project. In your motivation letter you should specify the department, your skills, and what type of research you are interested in. We will then be in touch if something is able to be arranged, but the processing time will be longer – up to one month.
In addition to the lab work, there will be an accompanying cultural program that will introduce the Czech Republic and the Central Europe to the participating students. The program will consist of the lectures and seminars on the given topic, movie screening, concerts, shows, museum and historical sites visit, as well as in-town and out-of-town excursions. Finally, there will be three-day trips to the regional capitals (ex: Prague, Vienna and Budapest) where students will be able to understand the Central European context to the Czech identity. Each trip will be organized by Masaryk University, and transportation, 2-nights accommodation as well as the professional tours and cultural program will be arranged.
