🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?no

Does the university offer enough courses in English?it's alright

Are your credits converted?no

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?I was surprised that most of the courses I took were only for Erasmus students, each with a different major. As a result, we couldn't choose subjects that completely fit our study programme. I didn't mind though, the range of subjects was interesting and I was able to get to know my classmates better in class thanks to the group projects and activities. Also, all the teachers were very nice and there was good communication with them.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly?A great advantage of the University of Ljubljana is the wide range of sports activities for students. Sports were free and we always reported for them every morning. We could choose from pilates, gym, swimming to team sports like basketball or volleyball. There was also a student organisation in Ljubljana called ESN, which organised a trip for Erasmus students every weekend and other events during the week, such as parties, board game nights, beerpong tournaments, ...

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?Psychological counseling
Barrier-free access to classrooms and dormitories
Special aids and technologies (e.g., text-to-speech software, hearing aids)
Special examination conditions (e.g., extended time, quiet rooms)
Crisis intervention

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:11000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?no

Do you have any tips on how to find private accommodation? We received a list of verified accommodation for Erasmus students from the university, for me it's definitely a good idea to stick to that. Alternatively, there are lots of different groups on Facebook, you just need to be more careful if it's a scam.

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?If a student is staying in Ljubljana for more than three months, he/she must obtain a "permit of stay". The procedure for this is described on the university's website and costs around 25 euros in total. Otherwise, I can't think of any unexpected expenses.

Do you have any tips on how to save money?Definitely ride a bike instead of public transport. Lots of people ride bikes around Ljubljana, you can either get your own second hand or there is a bike share offer for 3 euros a year. Another great advantage is the discounts on food for students to a large number of restaurants, fast food and canteens.

How well did you manage to communicate in English?perfectly

How does public transport work in the city?neutral

And what about transport outside the city?I've seen better

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?I searched for connections via google maps, or you can use the Urbana app. A single ticket can be bought with a card directly on the bus (in the same "beep and go" way as we have in Brno), and you can arrange a monthly shalinkart in the centre at the Bavarski dvor stop.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?no

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city? For me, definitely Ljubljana Castle (who hasn't been to the castle as if they weren't in Ljubljana), then the main Prešeren Square with the triple bridge and a little further on the Dragon Bridge. I would also recommend the Nebotičnik cafe, which has a beautiful view of the city and the mountains beyond.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Lakes Bled and Bohinj, Velika Planina, Soca River, Piran, and then to Italy to Trieste and Lago di Fusine... and I could go on for a long time :-)

Share your best experience:Hard to pick just one! But probably the dinners we had with our foreign friends to introduce each other to our culture.

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?no

How did you get to the place?Bus

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip? There is a direct flixbus from Brno to Ljubljana, so the transport is ideal!

Can you pay by card?in most places

What not to forget when packing? Some favourite board game and then of course some typical Czech goodies (and maybe some typical Czech alcohol)

🥳Summary
Whew, what a ride! 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for taking the time to complete our survey and for sharing your unique experience. Just one last thing. 🙏 How would you summarize your trip in one or two sentences?Erasmus in Slovenia or in a country with mountains and sea!
