Activities before my departure abroad
What was your approach in organising the placement?:
Kontaktovala jsem zahraniční instituci a domluvila si schůzku. Na schůzce jsme probrali možnosti mé stáže a domluvili se na termínu stáže. Poté jsem zajistila potřebné podpisy na Learning Agreement, zaevidovala si krátkodobý zahraniční pobyt v ISu, sjednala zdravotní pojištění a zažádala si o stipendium.

Ano, měnila jsem ještě před odjezdem, protože se mi překrýval Freemover s Erasmus +. Freemover zkrácen, Erasmus navazoval.

What is necessary to arrange immediately on arrival? What requirements and at which offices?:
Registraci na městském úřadě v Lovani.

Describe your work/activity in the foreign organisation. Describe what specifically you did, whether the work corresponded to the agreed conditions and your field of study, and whether your work was independent and responsible, approximate working hours.:
Měla jsem možnost zabývat se analýzou sekvenačních dat - měla jsem prostor pochopit veškeré kroky analýzy sekvenačních dat, psát skripty a konzultovat výsledky analýz. Práce odpovídala mému oboru, resp. mému PhD projektu.
Pracovní doba byla flexibilní, nicméně jsem dodržovala 8 hodin (9 - 17).

Did the organisation or local student organisations arrange any special events for foreign students on placements?:
yes

If yes then what?:
Měli jsme uvítací akci pro Erasmus+ studenty a měli jsme různé společenské akce přímo na ústavu.

Where did you live?:
V bytě 2+kk.

Cost of accommodation - monthly:
1500 EUR

Additional comments to the price of accommodation (as to what the price includes):
V Belgii je krátkodobý pobyt do 3 let a smlouva na byt se dává většinou na 3, 6 a 9 let. Pokud chcete pronájem pouze na půl roku jako já, tak to bude pravděpodobně za poplatek. Já jsem si ještě připlatila za to, že jsem jela jsem s přítelem a hledali jsme celý byt + jsme měli s sebou psa. Pokud pojedete sami a nebude vám vadit sdílený pokoj/byt, tak bude hledání určitě lehčí a pobyt levnější (300-500 euro).

Who arranged your accommodation and how far ahead:
Ubytování jsem si zajistila sama, 2 měsíce předem.

Equipment, internet connection, what to bring:
Byt byl vybavený, akorát tam chyběla pračka, kterou jsem si koupila z druhé ruky za 100 euro. Dále jsem si kupovala na místě monitor za 60-70 euro. S sebou jsem vezla některé nádobí (pánev, nůž, misku, hrnek).

What are the rough costs of groceries (compare with Czech prices):
Ceny potravin v obchodě jsou velmi podobné jako v ČR. Nicméně restaurace jsem o hodně dražší (jídlo se pohybuje okolo 15-30 euro).

Transport to location of placement:
Jela jsem autem.

Tips for purchasing cheap tickets and other recommendations:
Pokud byste chtěli letět do Belgie letadlem, tak letenky jsou o hodně levnější do Brusel Charleroi, nicméně je to cca 1h 15min autem do/z Lovaně. Hromadná doprava je v Belgii dražší než v ČR - například jednorázová jízdenka na autobus z Lovaně do Bruselu stojí 2,5 euro, jízdenka na vlak z Lovaně do Bruselu stojí 10 euro (pouze tam).

What are the local transport options (public transport, cycling, on foot, rough prices):
Lovaň je menší než Brno a je tam převážně rovina. Doporučuji si půjčit kolo a jezdit na něm - je to nejrychlejší. Já jsem si půjčila kolo na celý pobyt - 6 měsíců a stálo mě to pouhých 40 euro.

Tips for recreation:
V Lovani je mnoho parků vhodných na běh nebo na procházku. Dále je tu sportovní centrum KU Leuven, kam může chodit každý, kdo si koupí sportovní kartičku KU Leuven, je tu na výběr mnoho aktivit podobně jako na MUNI. Mimo to je v Belgii mnoho hezkých měst, např.: Bruggy, Gent, Mechelen, Dinant, kam jezdí vlak z Lovaně.

Využila jsem Stipendijní program na podporu studentských mobilit v rámci doktorského studijního programu a dále jsem stále dostávala PhD stipendium.

Měla jsem zvýhodněné obědy a zadarmo kurzy a konference od VIB KU Leuven.

Ano, musela jsem zaplatit 2 nájmy předem - za celý byt 75 400,-.

Do you have any recommendation for those that follow you? (e.g. what to take with them):
Pokud si chcete půjčit kolo, tak si doporučuji přivést s sebou pláštěnku/nepromokavou bundu na kolo a kalhoty, které mají zakryté i boty - nebo si to můžete koupit v Belgii např. v Decathlonu - mají tam úplně všechno vybavení na kolo za fajn ceny.
Ještě bych ráda zmínila, že v Lovani mluví úplně každý anglicky. :)
