Can you describe the role you held during your internship?Visiting PhD student.

What specific responsibilities and tasks did you do during your internship?I was immediately involved in the expert team. We dealt with the actual needs of the project, implementing data collection, preparing and cleaning the data, rewarding respondents, a lot of code writing.

Do you have tips on how to make a great impression on the institution?Maybe find a good match of previous experience and what they are dedicated to at the institution.

How competitive was the selection process? Did you have to go through an application procedure?I have no idea what the competition was like, but almost immediately after writing the email I got an offer to come.

Why would you recommend students do an internship?The Netherlands is the perfect place for a foreign research internship - the science is at a high level, you get to work on projects that would probably not be feasible in the Czech Republic.

What were your average monthly expenses during the internship?30000 CZK/month

Did the institution provide accommodation?no

If not, how did you find it?Via AirBnB, but I lived in a de facto 6m2 cell for 18000 CZK. That was not optimal.

Did you have any unexpected expenses during the internship?yes

If yes, what were they?I missed my plane due to the strike; Expenses for antihistamines + taxi to the hospital due to anaphylactic shock.

Do you have any tips on how to save money during the internship?Eat frugally, work primarily from home and go nowhere.

What is a must-see in the city?Canals, restaurant on a boat in the canal, Leiden Castle, walk along the original walls, now parks.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Coastal dunes, national parks, Amsterdam, Gouda Museum and Delft Tower.
