zvací dopis od univerzity, pas, doplňující informace o žadateli, potvrzení o studiu, americké dokumenty jako DS2019

Length of wait for visa:
Odvíjí se od vytíženosti úřadu, trvá to ale dlouho. Na pohovor jsem čekala 2 měsíce, na vízum s pasem necelé 2 týdny.

Kurzy registrují zaměstnanci DSS po Vašem výběru. Změna možná bez problému.

Ano, zápočty i závěrečné zkoušky za každý předmět

Klade se hodně důraz na feedback a slovní hodnocení, výuka založena na diskusi

Quality of teaching in comparison with home school:
Výuka je vedena podobně jako magisterské studium na FSS KMVES

How did you receive study materials?:
Ve většině open sources, bylo však potřeba zakoupit si i vlastní knihy.

Can you recommend an interesting course/subject/teacher?:
Všechny kurzy byly obohacující a zajímavé

How well is the school library equipped?:
Knihovna je sice skromnější, než na co jsme na FSS zvyklí, i tak však byla poměrně solidně vybavená

Availability of computers, internet access, level of software needed, requirements on notebook:
Možnosti využití i počítačů v knihovně DSS

Vlastní pokoj a koupelna v rodinném domě. Není zahrnuta vratná kauce 500 USD

Záleží na tom, jaké ubytování si student sežene. V rámci úspor doporučuji z ČR dovést co nejvíce praktických věcí.

How and how far ahead should accommodation be organised?:
Je lepší s několikatýdenním předstihem. Já však řešila až na místě kvůli problémům.

What are the catering options?:
Žádné, pouze vlastní.

What are the rough costs of groceries (compare with Czech prices):
Několikanásobně dražší. Týdenní nákup pro 1 osobu 100-150 USD

Letecky

20-30 000 Kč

Tips for purchasing cheap tickets and other recommendations:
Kupovat letenku s předstihem

What are the local transport options (public transport, cycling, on foot, rough prices):
MHD v rámci možností funguje, není na něj však vždy spoleh a je dost drahé (při rush hours cena za jednu cestu i 5USD).

What kind of formalities have to be arranged before arrival, for example residence permit?:
Vízum

What health insurance did you use? (rough price, advantages, disadvantages, is it necessary to arrange insurance at the university other than your home (Czech) insurance?):
Vlastní cestovatelské pojištění Kooperativa - 10 000Kč.
V rámci amerických škol je povinné ještě jejich pojištění bez ohledu na to, že máte svoje - cena cca 22 tisíc Kč.

Navštívit všechny pamětihodnosti v DC. Většina památek je zdarma.

Ačkoliv byl pobyt velmi obohacující, byl také extrémně finančně náročný. Student musí počítat s tím, že z jeho strany musí mít připravených alespoň 100 tisíc na pokrytí nákladů.
