🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?it's alright

Are your credits converted?yes

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?The teaching of some subjects was based only on self-study during the semester, which did not suit me very well. On the other hand, it was no problem to choose other courses in the first weeks, which were quite varied and where classical full-time teaching took place.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?I haven’t noticed

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:12000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?no

Do you have any tips on how to find private accommodation?Facebook groups – but beware of scammers, some of the international students have had very unpleasant experiences.

Do you have any tips on how to save money?Super cheap canteen – most meals around 1 €. Student discount on public transport for 8 €/month.

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?perfectly

How does public transport work in the city?I've seen better

And what about transport outside the city?neutral

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?I have only used the FlixBus company – no problem, with other companies you can't rely too much on the timetable, sometimes the bus arrives later, sometimes earlier... better to always have enough time reserve.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?no

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city? The town itself is not that big, it is easy to walk all the way around (count on some elevation, Rijeka is a city of stairs... literally :)). Trsat castle, the market by the pier, all the beaches and head upriver more outside the city.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Ideally have a car/ find a friend with a car/ rent a car. I've travelled all over Croatia this way, close to Italy, Slovenia, Albania... Definitely worth taking advantage of Rijeka's strategic location to travel in all directions.

Share your best experience:A week-long roadtrip across Croatia ending with the Ultra techno festival in Split.

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?no

How did you get to the place?Bus

Can you pay by card?in most places

What not to forget when packing?Umbrella, Rijeka is the second European city with the most rainfall by the end of April. I'd also pack hiking boots, the mountains in Slovenia and Italy are a stone's throw away and definitely worth it.

🥳Summary
Whew, what a ride! 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for taking the time to complete our survey and for sharing your unique experience. Just one last thing. 🙏 How would you summarize your trip in one or two sentences?Half a year at the seaside, lots of new friends from all over the world and experiences you can't get anywhere else.
