🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?they have tons

Are your credits converted?yes

Can you give an example? If you are substituting a course for a course, the number of credits will be determined for the course being substituted. For example, I took an 8 credit course abroad, but I was substituting a 4 credit course at MUNI. Thus, I was only enrolled for 4 credits.

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?Greater structuring of lessons (we always knew what we were going to do when and it was really followed), also sorting of information (even within more philosophical topics), openness and applicability to current events.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly?Yes, I definitely recommend the language course a month before the semester starts for beginners and advanced students, because it is very good and you get to know each other during the course. Several times a week there are various events organised for Erasmus students - city tours, quizzes, karaoke, discos, traditional dinners and trips to nearby towns are organised at weekends (always very quickly booked). You can choose from 3 choirs, 2 theatres, orchestra, sports clubs... German is an advantage, but it's also very English-friendly :)

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?Psychological counseling
Support for LGBTQ+ students (e.g., safe spaces, counseling services)

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:15000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?yes

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?The most money you will spend on food, even accommodation is not exactly the cheapest + for each event there is a fee of 200-500 CZK, the language course also cost something, but with a grant and a bit of frugality you can definitely get by :)

Do you have any tips on how to save money? On some streets you can find boxes of clean and functional things in front of houses that people don't want to throw in the trash but don't need anymore (I got a blanket, a lamp, a lot of books, a few glasses, a rug...), as for food, it depends on the type, but generally it's more worth buying in supermarkets (and not to be tempted by every bakery or café you pass by:), it's also quite worth eating in the canteen, depending on how much you eat (I found it better to cook my own food, because the canteen had big portions for me).

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?almost without problems

How does public transport work in the city?mostly fine

And what about transport outside the city?neutral

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?I definitely recommend the Deutschlandticket, which is valid for regional trains throughout Germany and can somehow be connected to the public transport (I didn't use it because I was close to everything, but otherwise it's very worthwhile). Our Erasmus coordinators in Regensburg gave us all the information on how to find what where.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?no

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city?Of course the historic UNESCO centre with its beautiful town hall and cathedral, historic streets and bakeries. I also recommend the historical museum (I used to go there all the time because it's free with ISIC:). The Oktoberfest in Munich or the local Dult just belongs to Bavaria.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Who hasn't been to Walhalla as if he wasn't exist. A megalomaniacal monument to Bavarian pride, like Kelheim with its very old brewery at Weltenburg Abbey. The cities of Passau, Munich, and the slightly more distant Lake Chiemsee (especially over the Christmas market) are also very nice.

Share your best experience:Every Friday night there is a free lecture on the solar system and stargazing in the night sky at a local downtown observatory. I recommend it, I used to go there every week! :)

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?no

How did you get to the place?Bus

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip? All right, the best time and price is the Flixbus directly from Prague.

Can you pay by card?everywhere

What not to forget when packing?Something for cold weather (it rains a lot in autumn and sometimes there are floods), but strong sun or snow are not exceptional either :)

🥳Summary
Whew, what a ride! 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for taking the time to complete our survey and for sharing your unique experience. Just one last thing. 🙏 How would you summarize your trip in one or two sentences?Stress-free Erasmus? With German organisation you have nothing to worry about :)
