🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?no

Does the university offer enough courses in English?it's alright

Are your credits converted?yes

Can you give an example?I enrolled in 3 courses and all 3 were accepted as B courses at MU. The credit count remained the same.

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?High interaction with students during instruction, collaborative and creative assignments, teacher engagement and teaching effectiveness.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly? There were some to choose from at the beginning, but I don't think any of the Erasmus students joined them. Otherwise, the ESN was amazing, with games, trips, etc. every weekend.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?I haven’t noticed

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:7400 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?yes

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?You have to pay (approx. 5 euro) to enter some natural sights (gorges).

Do you have any tips on how to save money? In Slovenia, there are bony - food discounts for students. You get free vouchers for each month in the app, which you spend gradually in all kinds of restaurants (the choice is really big, almost all of them support this concept, not only Menzy, but also Burger King etc) and get big discounts on food (mostly only on lunch). For example, for 2 vouchers you can get 50% discount on the whole lunch (salad, soup, main course, snack). If you can, live in the dorms, ideally in Bežigrad where all the Erasmus students are (other dorms are far away in the city). Ride shared bikes. And spend money on ESN events, it's worth it :)

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?neutral

How does public transport work in the city?mostly fine

And what about transport outside the city?neutral

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?Google maps works fine, otherwise the Urbana app.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?yes

How do you rate the availability of healthcare?mostly fine

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city?In addition to the castle, bridges and squares, go check out Metelkova street. There is street art, graffiti, interesting people and sometimes even parties.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Lakes Bled, Bohinj, Škocjan Caves and Postojna Caves, Predjama Castle, the sea (crazy beautiful views from the cliffs and beautiful beaches), the entire Triglav National Park (Triglav, Viševnik, ...), Velka Planina, Planica, all the breathtaking waterfalls, Tolmin and Vintgar gorges, the Soca river (you can kayak), ... there is really a lot to see and everything is relatively close :)

Share your best experience:Hard to pick just one :D probably getting lost in the woods (the trails there are not as beautifully marked as in the touristy Czech Republic). Anyway, I didn't like winter before my stay, but this turned my relationship with it around. Slovenia is a treasure in any season.

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?no

How did you get to the place?Bus
Car

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip? The bus will take you to the main station, and from there it's a realy long walk to the dorms (and the faculty). You can't bike it with suitcases, so I recommend going straight to public transport or taking Bolt. And there's no free parking (for cars) at the dorms (it's about a 15min walk from them).

Can you pay by card?neutral

What not to forget when packing? If you're going on a autumn-winter placement and want to go hiking, take a crampons, it will make your life easier. And if you're going to live in the dorms, take a little Czech gift for your roommate - it breaks the ice and you have a friend right away :)

🥳Summary
Whew, what a ride! 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for taking the time to complete our survey and for sharing your unique experience. Just one last thing. 🙏 How would you summarize your trip in one or two sentences?"I can't go, I have a boyfriend" - been there. We both applied, we both got accepted, we lived together in the dorms. Go!
