Can you describe the role you held during your internship?Lecturer/teacher at the Czech School Madrid.

What specific responsibilities and tasks did you do during your internship?Online and face-to-face teaching (preparation and implementation of lessons), communication with parents, organization of extracurricular activities, creation of posts on social networks, creation of exhibitions, posters, etc.

Did you apply any theory you learned at university during the internship?yes

If yes, can you provide a specific example?Didactics, pedagogy and psychology from the teacher education program helped me a lot. I also knew better the knowledge I was imparting to the children here thanks to my studies.

How well did you manage to communicate in a foreign language?almost no difficulties

Did the institution have any special requirements?Level of study

Do you have tips on how to make a great impression on the institution?Previous experience working with children or experience of running a troop or camp is always useful and is a bonus point. But the most important thing is interest, responsibility and reliability.

How competitive was the selection process? Did you have to go through an application procedure?Yes, I interviewed, first semester there were 8 of us, the next 5, it depends on the semester...

Why would you recommend students do an internship?You will get an amazing experience in a unique environment, learn a lot (not only professionally), meet new people, make a lot of contacts, improve your language abroad and travel in your free time.

What were your average monthly expenses during the internship?13000 CZK/month

Did the institution provide accommodation?no

If not, how did you find it?Through the agency, it was a tragedy and after one night I moved out. I finally found accommodation through friends.

Did you have any unexpected expenses during the internship?yes

If yes, what were they?My phone was stolen and I had to get a new one.

Do you have any tips on how to save money during the internship?Cook at home, go on trips within the tariff for which the card for students (up to 26 years old) applies.

How difficult was it for you to adjust to life abroad?it was okay, but could have been better

How does public transport work in the city?mostly fine

And what about transport outside the city?mostly fine

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?Renf, but all transport is shown on Google/Apple maps, Omio app... tickets are bought in vending machines, but usually you have a 30 day card that will get you everywhere. You can get one in the malls at some metro or train stations (even at the airport).

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?yes

How do you rate the availability of healthcare?mostly fine

What is a must-see in the city?The squares (Puerta de Sol, Plaza Mayor), museums (Thyssen, Prado, Reina Sofia), Palacio Real, Catedral de Almudena, Templo de Debod, Casa de Campo, Retiro, but if you get lost in the streets, it's worth it too:)

What are the must-visit trip destinations?The Sierra de Guadarrama, Toledo, Ávila, Segovia, El Escorial, Salamanca, Córdoba... being central, Madrid is a great place to travel to all parts of the world.

Share your best experience:It's not one of the best, but there are many things I'm grateful for here, whether it's traveling and exploring the area, walking along the river in Madrid, or spending time with friends.

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip?Ryanair started checking luggage dimensions a while ago and are nonsensically spiking it, so beware of oversized luggage.

Can you pay by card?in most places

What not to forget when packing?Warm clothes! It's cold in Spain too!
