🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Does the university offer enough courses in English?they have tons

Are your credits converted?no

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?A completely different grading system, for which they did not provide any table with equivalents in classical grading (A,B, ...). However, the Study Department/CZS at MUNI managed to cope with it anyway.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly? The university organized an orientation week with lots of different activities and programs. In addition, there were various events throughout the semester aimed at international students.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?Psychological counseling
Barrier-free access to classrooms and dormitories
Special examination conditions (e.g., extended time, quiet rooms)
Crisis intervention
Support for LGBTQ+ students (e.g., safe spaces, counseling services)

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:30000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?yes

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?perfectly

How does public transport work in the city?neutral

And what about transport outside the city?mostly fine

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket? The university provides detailed info about public transport in the city (buses only), and there are 2 bus lines to the university going to the centre and to the train station. Tickets can be bought through the app or directly from the bus driver. There were no night lines in the city, so it was necessary to get used to the absence of "rozjezdy".

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?no

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city?Definitely Norwich Cathedral, the parks, the street market and of course the centre itself. The university has quite a large campus which is right next to a forest and large meadows, so it's very easy to spend time there as well.

What are the must-visit trip destinations? The ideal trip is by train or bus to Cambridge, Great Yarmouth or Cromer. Great Yarmouth and Cromer are nice seaside towns, and at Cromer there is a beautiful path around the cliffs where we went as part of an activity with the university. Of course there is also a trip to London which is relatively close by train.

Share your best experience:It's hard to choose one particular experience. With the group of Erasmus students I met at the beginning during the orientation week, we travelled to many places and even went to Scotland and Ireland. Every trip we took together was a great experience, as were the dinners or movie nights we organised ourselves. One night we had an "international" dinner where everyone brought a typical dish for their country. A few months later, our instagram posts from that dinner were noticed by the university itself, and now they host international dinners directly organized by them, so it was nice to leave some footprints.

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?no

How did you get to the place?Plane
Train

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip?Norwich has its own airport, but nothing from the Czech Republic flies to it at the moment. The best option is to fly to one of the London airports. The University has organised its own shuttle bus from Heathrow Airport, but if you are flying into Luton or Stansted, you will have to arrange your own transport. However, the university website provides detailed directions from each airport to the campus. I personally flew to Stansted airport, which has a regular service from Brno, and then took the direct train to Norwich. Another alternative is then the National Express long-distance bus, some of whose services from the airport stop directly at the university campus, which is particularly useful if arriving at night, as Norwich did not have night-time public transport services.

Can you pay by card?everywhere

What not to forget when packing? The university does not provide bedding, so you need to arrange a blanket, pillow, sheets....There is an option to order equipment through UniKitOut, which offers all sorts of packages from bedding to cooking or bathroom equipment, and they work with the university so you can have a package delivered to your room before you arrive. Apart from bedding, however, all kitchen equipment etc. can be obtained through a university event where former students offer to sell their no longer needed equipment.
