🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?it's alright

Are your credits converted?no

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?I would definitely highlight the quality of education here at MUNI. In many classes at the University of Pécs I felt like I was in elementary school among stupid people. But otherwise, I was pleasantly surprised by the sports offerings, which were even graded with a grade (and not just credit)!

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly? These activities are offered by the local ESN and there are many of them! Especially in the current semester where I am still following their activities on social media, there are so many more for students!

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?I haven’t noticed

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:6000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?yes

Do you have any tips on how to save money? In Hungary, you can buy the so-called Hungarian Pass on their train app. For students there is a 70% discount and it comes out to about 200 CZK. Thanks to this pass there is free transport in a few cities (I know specifically Budapest and Szeged), as well as free buses all over the country and trains with this pass cost under 50 CZK. Definitely worth it!

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?with gestures

How does public transport work in the city?I've seen better

And what about transport outside the city?neutral

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket? The only way is through the "MÁV" app, it's their local app (like our ČD) and you can find any train connections between cities there. I would definitely recommend buying the 'Hungarian Pass', which is 70% off for students and can save you an incredible amount on transport. Specifically in Pécs they don't have a good mhd app, I always searched everything on Google maps. Tickets can be bought at one designated place in the mall (you rather need someone who knows the place to guide you). Single trip mhd tickets can be purchased from the driver.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?no

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city?A hike up the TV Tower and a walk around the area. Getting involved in all the ESN activities, which will also take you to a local shelter or nearby spa, for example. A cultural centre that offers seating in the park, various museums or a planetarium. You will certainly find most company and friends at the 'Csinos' bar, which is more of a meeting place than a pub itself.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Budapest, Szeged, Lake Balaton (the most accessible is the town of Siofók), Lake Orfű.

Share your best experience:One of the best experiences for me is the birthday party of my friends and watching the sunrise afterwards. It was towards the end of the semester, friendships were pretty solidified and the house party with all of our loved ones was absolutely amazing. And at 4 a.m., we decided we'd hold out until sunrise. We walked out to a nearby lookout and although we didn't see much of a sunrise, it felt nice to just be together like that, in peace and without any other random people. There was some parting afterwards, but it was at that exact moment that I realised how lucky I was to have my friends and that we had formed a lifelong friendship!

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?no

How did you get to the place?Train

Can you pay by card?everywhere

What not to forget when packing?I would recommend a disposable camera that you have to develop the photos from. And take as many photos as possible! Then when you develop them, you will have beautiful memories that you may have forgotten.

🥳Summary
Whew, what a ride! 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for taking the time to complete our survey and for sharing your unique experience. Just one last thing. 🙏 How would you summarize your trip in one or two sentences? It was definitely the best 5 months of my life! I don't regret the trip and I highly recommend it to others!
