🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?they have tons

Are your credits converted?yes

Can you give an example?1 USASK credit is 2 MUNI credits = a 3 credit course is recognized as a 6 credit course.

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?More compulsory literature, more work during the semester, compulsory attendance for some subjects (also part of the final grade), mid-term exams, fixed exam dates, a week off in the middle of the semester...

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly?During the first week, welcome events were organised by both the university and the residence office. It is also possible to sign up for the Buddy Programme, which also organises events and trips throughout the semester.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?Psychological counseling
Barrier-free access to classrooms and dormitories
Special examination conditions (e.g., extended time, quiet rooms)
Crisis intervention
Support for LGBTQ+ students (e.g., safe spaces, counseling services)

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:25000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?yes

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?Nothing happened to me that required unexpected expenses. However, exchange stays do of course get more expensive if one also wants to travel around the country:)

Do you have any tips on how to save money?I lived in a dorm that has a mandatory Unlimited Meal Plan (breakfast, lunch, dinner every day) = 86 000 CZK/term. Since I didn't go grocery shopping, I can't compare how expensive it would be, but in general I found groceries a bit more expensive than in CZ/SK. The school fees (11 000 CZK/term) include public transport, sports complex, library... .

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?perfectly

How does public transport work in the city?neutral

And what about transport outside the city?terrible

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?I used Google Maps to find public transport connections around the city, they worked fine. The problem with public transport rather stems from the weather conditions (lots of snow and cold). Connections between cities are basically non-existent, only Flixbus goes to some places :D. If you want to go somewhere on a trip I recommend renting a car (you need to have a credit card in the name of the perso renting the car) or flying. When travelling in the Quebec/Ontario province (for example Quebec - Montreal - Ottawa) the VIA Rail Canada train service is also nice.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?yes

How do you rate the availability of healthcare?I've seen better

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city?Walks around the university campus/river area,
Wanuskewin Museum,
Remai modern museum,
Swirl World, Tim Hortons
Ag night (party organized by and for students of the college of Agriculture = real country folks).

What are the must-visit trip destinations?I definitely recommend visiting all the major/famous cities (Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City) but also Halifax, Prince Edward Island, Calgary...And also Banff National Park!

Share your best experience:A one-day roadtrip from Saskatoon to Regina, where we also stopped in the villages of Outlook, Elbow, Eyebrow and Moose Jaw, home to the world's largest moose statue. The trip to Banff National Park organized by Buddy Progam was also great.

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?yes

Where can it be arranged?Online - eTA

What is needed?Passport

How long does it take approximately?1 day, costs 7 Canadian dollars

How did you get to the place?Plane

Can you pay by card?in most places

What not to forget when packing?Having your own pillow and sleeping bag/blanket is handy, as you only get a mattress at the dorms. Winter clothing is important if you plan to spend a lot of time outdoors but the indoor areas are sufficiently heated even at -20°C. If you join the Buddy Program, at the end of the semester students have presentations about their home countries - you can bring along some snacks to hand out.

🥳Summary
Whew, what a ride! 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for taking the time to complete our survey and for sharing your unique experience. Just one last thing. 🙏 How would you summarize your trip in one or two sentences?Definitely a great experience, a new outlook on life and most importantly new international friendships (for life?) :)
