Do you have tips on how to make a great impression on the institution?Based on the scientific work, I contacted the lead author. In the email I presented my experience, CV and cover letter.

How competitive was the selection process? Did you have to go through an application procedure?I did not go through a formal selection process, communication was directly with the head of the lab.

Why would you recommend students do an internship?I would recommend the internship mainly for the new experience, professional knowledge and the opportunity to work in a different scientific environment. It is also an opportunity to meet new people and improve your communication in a foreign language.

What is a must-see in the city?There are many parks in Helsinki where you can go for a walk. There is the cathedral, which is the main destination for most tourists and is also famous for the song Darude - Sandstorm.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?I recommend a trip to the island of Suomenlinna, which is a 15-minute ferry ride from Helsinki. It's also worth going to Tallinn, Estonia, which takes about 2.5 hours by ferry. In the neighbouring town of Espoo, there is Nuuksio Park, where you can go to feed the reindeer for a fee.
