🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?neutral

Are your credits converted?no

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?I was surprised that professors sometimes don't come to lectures and also the communication with students, which is done through selected "student representatives" who then pass all the information to others through whatsapp groups.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly? The university organised a welcome day and the language centre organised a few more events afterwards, including regular free film screenings.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?Psychological counseling
Support for LGBTQ+ students (e.g., safe spaces, counseling services)

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:17000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?no

Do you have any tips on how to find private accommodation? The University brokers listings from verified landlords.

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?The public transport card cost 180 euros. It's true that I bought it for a year, because the student discount was not applicable to the monthly one, but maybe it could have been calculated better. I also didn't expect to spend so much on groceries and food, but then again, Italy and especially Naples is full of streetfood, so I don't regret a penny.

Do you have any tips on how to save money? It is worth buying vegetables and fruit from smaller stalls. Streetfood and restaurants are surprisingly cheap in the centre, where tourists are attracted by the low prices. A few Erasmus students have managed to negotiate the Italian authorities for an ISEE certificate, which can get you a student discount on public transport and most canteens around the university, but it depends on how resistant you are and which officials you come across.

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?with gestures

How does public transport work in the city?terrible

And what about transport outside the city?neutral

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket? It's probably best to search for trains via trenitalia.com, and for transport around the city and the Campania region via the UNICO or ANM mobile apps, through which you can also buy tickets. The problem with public transport in Naples is the multiple transport companies that operate each line. However, there are machines at every train or metro station where you can buy tickets offline.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?no

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city? What is beautiful is a sunset from the Vomero hill (the next level is from Castel Sant Elmo), but in general I think the best experience is just wandering around the city on foot in the narrow streets. Naples has many neighborhoods, and in each you get to see the city from a whole new perspective.

What are the must-visit trip destinations? To the west are interesting port towns such as Bagnoli or Pozzuoli, and to the east the Sorrento peninsula. There are plenty of hiking trails with great views, I was most impressed with the hike up Monte Molare. Everything is accessible by train.
There are ferries to the islands directly from Naples or Pozzuoli. I would recommend visiting Procida or Ischia, Capri was too touristy for me:)
Then there are the famous things that you would have found out without me - a trip to Rome, Pompeii or Vesuvius is also worth it.

Share your best experience:Probably one of the best experiences was the evenings together at the apartment of one of the Erasmus students, when we cooked our national dishes or played guitar and sang. We also managed to get up for sunrise once, I will remember that for a long time.

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?no

How did you get to the place?Plane
Train

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip? The airport is very close. In addition to the shuttle bus, there is the option of using a shared taxi, where you and random people can get a ride to the centre for 5 euros.

Can you pay by card?in most places

What not to forget when packing?Swimsuit, quick-drying towel for warm weather.
It rains quite a bit from November to February, so an umbrella that can hold up.
The Italians pretend that the few months when it's cold don't exist, so most apartments don't have heating. For me, warm things inside and for sleeping are definitely useful :D

🥳Summary
Whew, what a ride! 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for taking the time to complete our survey and for sharing your unique experience. Just one last thing. 🙏 How would you summarize your trip in one or two sentences? In Naples, you cry twice when you arrive and when you leave. It's not an easy place, but I couldn't have picked a better one.
