🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?it's alright

Are your credits converted?yes

Can you give an example? It depends on the agreement with the faculty and how the credits were recognized for students from previous studies at this faculty, for example, I got 2 credits for one course, but at MUNI the credit value is roughly 4 credits.

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?Definitely surprised. The class was interactive, with lots of activities and homework, so the student learned effectively throughout the semester. Then the ending was also mostly in the form of some sort of term paper. The teachers were incredibly nice and very willing to help in any way they could.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly?Certainly, the university organized a lot of events to help exchange students get to know each other, and they also had a buddy program, which worked by assigning a Taiwanese student to each exchange student, and then they helped each other.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?Psychological counseling

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:7000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?yes

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?Not really, I just had a problem with my visa, so I had to leave Taiwan twice and then come back, which was definitely no small expense.

Do you have any tips on how to save money?School cafeterias on campus are a great way to save money. Also, living in the dorms in Taipei is much cheaper than living outside.

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?neutral

How does public transport work in the city?runs like clockwork

And what about transport outside the city?neutral

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?Google Maps and the BUS app show the time and when the bus will arrive.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?yes

How do you rate the availability of healthcare?neutral

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city?XiangShan Mountain (elephant mountain) with an evening view of Taipei101, the surrounding mountains, matcha mountain and the northern coast

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Nan Tou, Taidong, Yilan, Tainan, Alishan

Share your best experience:My favourite is the lattern festival in Taidong, the local temples have a huge local festival where they jump into fireworks (of course I recommend wearing at least two masks, goggles and headphones to protect yourself in the noise).

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?yes

Where can it be arranged? In Prague

What is needed?Nerves

How long does it take approximately? Two weeks in the Czech Republic, a day in Hong Kong

How did you get to the place?Plane

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip?Beware, if you do the visa in Hong Kong, they will only give you 90days, not the standard 180, so you will have to extend your visa in Taiwan, but they will only extend it two days more than the end of the semester. So the moment you finish your exams you have two days to leave.

Can you pay by card?neutral
