🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?they have tons

Are your credits converted?no

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?Teaching is very professional, often led by people directly from practice, but one subject can be taught by five different teachers at different times, who make up their own times, their own conditions and their own exams. I recommend consulting senior students in your field from ESN clubs who are happy to help you from the start of your studies.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly?Yes, and a lot. There are many "clubs" at the university that focus on cooperation with foreign students, organize joint events, trips.... Also the international department of the university is very active in engaging students and giving them the opportunity to present their country, for example, on the occasion of national days or holidays.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?I haven’t noticed

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:15000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?yes

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?I was surprised by the various administrative fees we don't pay at home. For example, phone registration without which the SIM card will not work. Issuing a green card also cost more than planned. As tap water is not recommended to drink, you have to buy and carry all the water in bigger containers which can be annoying.

Do you have any tips on how to save money?Food is one of the items you don't spend a lot of money on, but I would definitely avoid too many cheap alternatives that can cause health problems. Airfares change frequently, especially when you fly lowcost, so it's good to keep an eye on them but you can't save on luggage.

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?neutral

How does public transport work in the city?neutral

And what about transport outside the city?I've seen better

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket? In Baku there is a so-called Bakukart for metro and buses, which you always attach to the reader or in the turnstile and one ride costs 60qapik (about 7 CZK) for all connections. Outside Baku, a network of railways operates, and tickets can be bought via an app, website or at the station, but foreigners need to register with a travel document. It's a longer process but nothing complicated. There are also buses between cities which can also be bought through the Biletim app.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?no

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city?During the autumn semester, the city hosts the F1 Grand Prix, which is definitely worth seeing, and the city also offers locations where you can watch the race for free. The city boasts the Caspian coastline with its beautiful parks and skyscraper district. The old town offers a cross-section of history not just Baku and Nizami street in turn offers a long promenade full of food shops and architecture. There are plenty of parks near the university campus where you can relax. Baku's nightlife will pleasantly surprise you and there is certainly something for everyone.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Shahdag mountain area, Lankaran town, Gabele, historical town of Sheki

Share your best experience:As a big Formula 1 fan, I had the opportunity to watch the race directly from the balcony of a well-known apartment. The Caucasian cuisine is also one of the best experiences and will amaze you.

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?yes

Where can it be arranged?Azerbaijan Ministry website

What is needed?Valid passport and $30

How long does it take approximately?2 days

How did you get to the place?Plane

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip? The airport is located about 20 km from the city and the best way from the airport is by taxi, I recommend having a Bolt/Uber/or other alternative otherwise the journey from the airport can get expensive. There is also a bus service but it is very impractical and lengthy.

Can you pay by card?in most places

What not to forget when packing?Definitely long pants and I would leave the shorts and shorts at home. Men in Azerbaijan wear long trousers out of courtesy and except for sports you don't come across a man wearing shorts.

🥳Summary
Whew, what a ride! 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for taking the time to complete our survey and for sharing your unique experience. Just one last thing. 🙏 How would you summarize your trip in one or two sentences?Baku is a city where all nations and cultures meet, so it is worth discovering.
