Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?Compared to FI MU, the courses are less transparent. In some courses, we did not know until the last minute what the requirements and minimum thresholds for passing the course were.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly?Yes, there were international dinners, meetups, etc. Another important role was played by the local ESN, which worked closely with the university

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?I haven’t noticed

Do you have any tips on how to find private accommodation?Attempt to contact students who were on placement the previous semester and obtain contact details for the hosts.

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?Slovenia is comparable in price to the Czech Republic, the main above-standard expenses were travel.

Do you have any tips on how to save money?Try to get into the dorms (about 200-240 euro/month vs 300-500/month for private accommodation).

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?Buses in Ljubljana are perpetually late and slow. You can get around the city by bike (own or city bike). It's healthier and usually faster. As for intercity transport, you can get almost everywhere from Ljubljana, although it takes time (Bled, Bohinj, Maribor, Coast, Trieste...). For trips to the mountains it is better to rent a car in a group.

What is a must-see in the city?Ljubljana Castle, Rožnik Hill, Tivoli Park, Špica park, historical centre, Šmarna Gora

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Bled, Bohinj, Pobřeží (Koper, Izola, Piran), Laghi di Fusine, Maribor...

Share your best experience:We rented bikes in the village of Mojstrana, which can be reached by bus. Then we rode along a beautiful cycle path to the Fusine lakes. All in all, we rode about 50 km over beautiful terrain.
