🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?none

Are your credits converted?no

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?I was surprised that I could get from the dormitory to the school with a dry foot, 24 hours a day, even on weekends. I was surprised by the number of music rooms and the ability to play the piano whenever I wanted. I was negatively surprised at how unfriendly the local students were. Sometimes it took up to 3 months of lessons before they even said hello. I was surprised that even though the locals speak English, both teachers and students, not everyone was willing to speak English with me. I was surprised by the somewhat detached and uninformed approach to the use of artificial intelligence in teaching, our subjects were not technologically advanced.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly? The international office facilitates the buddy system, so our integration into school and society is handled by our volunteer peers. The school is small and has a minimum of international students, so all events were in German and we did not participate in almost anything. The Buddies guided us on what to do, but they were not very active themselves and did not always participate in the events.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?I haven’t noticed

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:25000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?yes

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?I was surprised that we had to pay for mandatory excursions.

Do you have any tips on how to save money?I saved money by keeping a spreadsheet of my finances where I wrote down every penny so I knew where the money was going. I guess the only way to save money is on entertainment, just not going out twice every week, that's what saves the most.

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?almost without problems

How does public transport work in the city?runs like clockwork

And what about transport outside the city?runs like clockwork

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?App Linz AG linien, can be equipped online, which is quite unusual in Austria to do something online, so points up. The cheapest is buying a monthly pass with Aktiv pass. Getting the Aktiv pass is a bore, but buddies will help.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?no

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city?Ars Electronica museum, Plus City with lots of restaurants, shops and entertainment, Postlingberg bahn, Franz Josef warte. The views are beautiful. Otherwise it looks like Ostrava, an industrial city with a smaller centre.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Innsbruck and drive up to the Top of Innsbruck. Gmunden, Feuerkogel, anything where there are mountains and the snow is beautiful. So the train heads south. Vienna is beautiful too.

Share your best experience:View from Top of Innsbruck.

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?no

How did you get to the place?Car

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip?Nothing special, it's next to the Czech Republic and we are in the EU, no problem.

Can you pay by card?sometimes

What not to forget when packing?Count on the fact that in Austria you really can't pay by card in many places. Have enough cash. Food is terribly expensive, so I recommend taking as much Czech food as possible if you're traveling by car.

🥳Summary
Whew, what a ride! 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for taking the time to complete our survey and for sharing your unique experience. Just one last thing. 🙏 How would you summarize your trip in one or two sentences?Space for rest, regeneration and plenty of time for yourself, but a lack of study opportunities for academic growth.
