🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?it's alright

Are your credits converted?no

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?I was surprised by the level of interactivity, the amount of discussion and also the special guest lectures (for example, with a survivor of the Srebrenica massacre, a member of the NGO Danish Refugee Council, or the grandson of a former NATO Secretary General).

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly?Certainly, ESN organises trips, get-togethers, parties, board nights and sporting events.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?Psychological counseling
Barrier-free access to classrooms and dormitories
Special examination conditions (e.g., extended time, quiet rooms)
Crisis intervention
Support for LGBTQ+ students (e.g., safe spaces, counseling services)

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:15000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?no

Do you have any tips on how to find private accommodation?Personally, I had a recommendation from a friend who studied in Ljubljana ten years ago, but from the experience of my classmates they are Facebook groups, I would recommend trying to connect with local students as well. I've heard of a few scams too, beware if someone asks you for money upfront e.g. for a deposit.

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?I don't remember, maybe just my disconnectedness when it comes to travelling:)

Do you have any tips on how to save money? There is a food system in Ljublana and every student has BONI (food vouchers), which can be used to eat in various bistros, bakeries, cafes and some restaurants. The price of food ranges from free to, I guess, 4-5 euros.
Almost everywhere you can find student discounts (cable cars, museums, admissions and other attractions), it's fun to look for them.
I also recommend not spending money on expensive gym passes, you can book different sports through the POPR leisure system. Personally, I've taken a liking to fitness (the gym is smaller and not super modern, but it has everything you need), circuit training, badminton or yoga. It's a great way to do sports for free and meet other nice people.

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?almost without problems

How does public transport work in the city?mostly fine

And what about transport outside the city?mostly fine

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?I used Google Maps the most, and there is supposedly an app for connections, but Google Maps worked best for me.
Tickets can be bought either as a one-off (€1.5 per trip) or for a month (€20 for students), which needs to be renewed, either at the transport centre or at specific stops with machines.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?no

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city?I would say everything, Ljubljana is not a big city, almost everywhere can be reached on foot or by bike. The castle, Ljubjanica, all the bridges, pubs and bars you will definitely pass at least once.
I can also highly recommend the museums and galleries, which are always free on the first Sunday of the month.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Since my friends and I are nature lovers, we went to different places to relax, but we visited a lot more.
Lakes... Black Lake, Double Lake, Lake Bled...
Škofja Loka, Pokljuka, Kamnik, Kranj, coast (Piran, Portorož, Izola, Koper)
Nature: Postojna jama, Triglav (it's nice to have a belay, ferrat set), Mangart, Veliki Snežnik, Golica, Šmarna Gora, Velika Planina

Share your best experience:I cannot praise Velika Planina, where we went three times. Amazing sunsets, magical atmosphere among the shepherd's dwellings and cows and in winter even a chance to go jogging.

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?no

How did you get to the place?Car

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip?If you drive, nothing at all. My classmates also have good experiences with plane, train or FlixBus.

Can you pay by card?in most places

What not to forget when packing?Things to do both for hiking and for the sea - Slovenia is a small but diverse country, within an hour you are both in the mountains and by the sea.

🥳Summary
Whew, what a ride! 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for taking the time to complete our survey and for sharing your unique experience. Just one last thing. 🙏 How would you summarize your trip in one or two sentences?Even if it's not 100% comfy, the most valuable thing is meeting cool people, traveling, exploring and making memories to last a lifetime.
