🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?manageable

Are your credits converted?yes

Can you give an example?Credits for language courses are always calculated slightly differently - you need to check with the coordinator.
For other courses it was that for 2 credits from NJU I should get 3 credits at MU.

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?Nothing special. It's just that some of the English classes are shared with a Korean university, so we sat in class but watched the professor via ZOOM.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly? There's plenty available, it's up to everyone what they feel like joining.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?Barrier-free access to classrooms and dormitories
I haven’t noticed

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:9000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?yes

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?Not really.

Do you have any tips on how to save money?Eating in the school cafeteria. Order things from Taobao.

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?not at all

How does public transport work in the city?runs like clockwork

And what about transport outside the city?mostly fine

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket? You can download a card for public transport around the city via Alipay. I used Trip.com for express trains and flights. Then Amaps for DiDi.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?yes

How do you rate the availability of healthcare?mostly fine

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city?Massacre Museum
夫子庙
老门东
牛首山
新街口
鼓楼校区

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Xi An, Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Suzhou.... around China is relatively well connected, so you can get everywhere!

Share your best experience:We climbed the Great Wall! That was awesome!

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?no

How did you get to the place?Plane

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip?Have the VPN pulled forward. LetsVPN and BullVPN worked for me. Maybe wait until you have a Chinese phone number to authorize your Wechat and Alipay accounts. But if that's not possible, that can work too! It just causes problems sometimes when you need to log in somewhere or something. It's manageable though.

Can you pay by card?sometimes

What not to forget when packing?Pain pills (Ibalgin, Paralen), they don't sell those. You can't get deodorant there either (at the Watson store or through Taobao). Physical credit card!! Preferably international (Revolut...). Have an international account set up and have some money converted to yuan. Have at least 1000 yuan with you physically - they say it's not necessary, but it's often saved us.

🥳Summary
Whew, what a ride! 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for taking the time to complete our survey and for sharing your unique experience. Just one last thing. 🙏 How would you summarize your trip in one or two sentences? If you have the opportunity, I definitely recommend going! Despite all the challenges, it was definitely worth it!
