🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?they have tons

Are your credits converted?yes

Can you give an example? For 3 credits at NTHU I got 5 credits at MU.

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?The final exam was often less than 50% of the mark.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly? There were some activities. They were sending us offers by e-mail, but I ignored it.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?I haven’t noticed

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:25000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?yes

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?neutral

How does public transport work in the city?neutral

And what about transport outside the city?neutral

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?Depending on the type of public transport - in Taiwan there are express trains, trains operated by private companies (Puyuma Express 402, Tze-Chiang Ltd. Express(3000)), local trains, fast local trains, long-distance buses, city buses and in Taipei, Kaohisung, Taichung subway. The best places to search for express trains and trains are the official websites - https://en.thsrc.com.tw/ and https://tip.railway.gov.tw/tra-tip-web/tip?lang=EN_US respectively. Tickets can also be purchased on this site (not for local and fast trains where you can't reserve a seat) or on the spot. For other modes of transport, the so-called easycard or ipass is used. As an NTHU student, you will be given a student card as soon as you arrive at the university, which is also an ipass. You can get your ipass at any convidient store (7-eleven, Familymart,...). Ipass is used by beeping on the bus as you enter and exit. For subway and local train and fast local train you beep before passing the turnstile to the platform and before leaving the platform. There are also reservation systems where you can reserve a seat on buses, but these systems are usually not in English or only partially so.

For bus searches use google maps which works very well for long distance buses and slush for Taipei and surrounding areas. The best option is taiwanbus https://www.taiwanbus.tw/eBUSPage/default.aspx?lan=E , or the mobile app Bus+

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?no

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What are the must-visit trip destinations? It depends on what one wants to see. In Taiwan there is mainly beautiful nature and there is a possibility. Alishan - 2000 year old trees - a unique place, Taipei - the capital, Sun-moon lake, Green island, on the east coast cruises for dolphin watching and with luck also whale watching. In the south you can see about one meter turtles when snorkeling, corals when diving. In the central part of the island there are almost 4000 meter high mountains. Yushan mountain - highest mountain - 2 day trip - need to ask for permission, physically more demanding. Hehuanshan - a mountain that is very accessible, probably the nicest main peak only 3 hours from the bus stop and back and very easy.

Share your best experience:It's hard to say which one... Among the best will be: the highest point of Taiwan (Yushan/Jade mountain), diving with sea turtles, Alishan, Taipei 101, watching dolphins at sea and quite often encountering macaques in the wild.

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
How did you get to the place?Plane

Can you pay by card?almost nowhere

What not to forget when packing? In Taiwan, a different adapter is used. Probably advisable to get one before departure (at least for mobile, maybe for laptop) , so you don't have to deal with it on the first day.

🥳Summary
Whew, what a ride! 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for taking the time to complete our survey and for sharing your unique experience. Just one last thing. 🙏 How would you summarize your trip in one or two sentences?A unique experience to travel the distant country.
