🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?manageable

Are your credits converted?no

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you? Most of the differences reflected the fact that MRU is a much smaller school. The teaching of most subjects was divided into seminars and lectures. Usually these classes were right after each other. The whole school and teaching felt much more family-like. After all, all the pupils know the other pupils in their year, and at the same time (most of) the teachers know all their pupils. There are no seminar groups, nor the equivalent of our IS, only Moodle where some teachers upload presentations.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly?Personally, I participated in the orientation week, which helped me meet some friends and introduced me to the school itself. In addition, the local student organization hosted various events and parties.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?Psychological counseling
Crisis intervention
Support for LGBTQ+ students (e.g., safe spaces, counseling services)
I haven’t noticed

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:11000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?yes

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?Generally I expected Lithuania to not be expensive, but the opposite was true. Even my German friends said it was the same, if not more expensive than Germany. Especially the services were expensive, for example beer in a restaurant cost around 120 CZK and main meals were hard to find under 225 CZK.

Do you have any tips on how to save money?Download the apps for all the stores immediately upon arrival, as the vast majority of discounts are only activated once the loyalty card is loaded. Also use ISIC as much as possible. In general, one saves a lot by living on campus. If you want to experience something for free, the last Sunday of every month is free admission to museums and various attractions.

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?with gestures

How does public transport work in the city?mostly fine

And what about transport outside the city?neutral

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?Tickets can be bought either directly on the bus with a card, but I rather recommend buying a long term ticket in the official Trafi app. With the student discount it's very cheap.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?no

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city?Definitely the old town and the TV tower from where the view is beautiful. In the old town, I then recommend climbing Gediminas Hill, where there is a tower, one of the few remains of the medieval fortifications of the city. Opposite this hill is another hill where there is again a statue of three crosses. I recommend going here for sunset. And such a hidden type for Stranger Things fans, there is a former prison here where part of the series was filmed. The tour is even free.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?I would definitely visit the nearby Trakai Castle and the seaside town of Klaipeda.

Share your best experience:The best experiences for me are the times spent with my friends, whether on trips or just at school.

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?no

How did you get to the place?Bus

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip?In the case of the bus ride, I can't think of anything.

Can you pay by card?in most places

What not to forget when packing?Definitely warm clothes, from mid-December to mid-January it was around -10 degrees.
