Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?Courses have many different alternative ways of completion (learning diary, lecture diary, online exam, presentations...).

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly?Yes, a lot. There's ESN Lapland, which organises a lot of events and a Meet a Finnish friend programme where you can meet locals. The university also manages large group chats on WhatsApp, so one has an easy way to communicate with other international students.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?Psychological counseling
Barrier-free access to classrooms and dormitories

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?Fee for stays over 3 months (60 euros).

Do you have any tips on how to save money?Second hand shops - lots of them and amazing quality at a very good price (wool sweaters very comfortably around 20 euro). Recycling room - free opportunity to take household equipment left by other international students.

What is a must-see in the city?Ounasvaara Hill, Santa's Village (must experience at least once), Vintikki second hand store (it's a cultural experience), Arcticum (when it's open day).

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Helsinki: a beautiful capital city, not even significantly more expensive than Rovaniemi itself. Hetta - a place very north of Rovaniemi (amazing for the Northern Lights).

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip?The airport is about 8 km from the city. There are specific buses that run from there (but they're fine, they just have very random departure times), or you can take an Uber/Bolt.

Can you pay by card?everywhere

What not to forget when packing?Wool layers! And waterproof and windproof layers.
