How did you discover this internship opportunity?MU website
Field coordinator

Can you describe the role you held during your internship?Teaching in a class of preschoolers.

What specific responsibilities and tasks did you do during your internship?Administrative activities in the promotion of the association on social media + creating posters for events, organizing and cleaning the library, organizing events for the association, preparing and printing materials for my classroom, in a class of preschoolers I acted as a teacher.

Did your tasks align with the pre-defined conditions?yes

Did the internship meet your expectations?yes

Did you apply any theory you learned at university during the internship?yes

If yes, can you provide a specific example? From my studies in special education I have mainly used my experience in working with preschoolers, building a trusting and safe environment for children, developing children's key skills.

How well did you manage to communicate in a foreign language?almost no difficulties

Did the institution have any special requirements?Level of study

Do you have tips on how to make a great impression on the institution?A well-written cover letter. It's good if you have some experience working with children (camps, running clubs, etc.).

How competitive was the selection process? Did you have to go through an application procedure?I don't know anything about the competition, there was probably a selection process, but I didn't have to do anything extra, I suppose the main reason for the selection for the internship was a well-written motivation letter.

Why would you recommend students do an internship? It's a big step out of your comfort zone (at least it was for me), which everyone should experience at least once. If they have the opportunity, you will learn new things about yourself, mainly it's new experience for your future profession and learning in a different and foreign environment will bring you a lot of experience. Of course, if you can, so travel!

💰And how to fund it?
What were your average monthly expenses during the internship?20000 CZK/month

Did the institution provide accommodation?yes

Did you have any unexpected expenses during the internship?no

Do you have any tips on how to save money during the internship?Bulk shopping and cooking together, I recommend studying the basic names of food, because I often didn't know if I was buying the right product and in some shops there is not enough signal to translate it, read leaflets and promotions (there is Lidl in Greece!), there were also markets near the neighbourhood where I lived, where you can get much better quality fruit and vegetables than in the shops and for a song.

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How difficult was it for you to adjust to life abroad?it was okay, but could have been better

How well did you manage to communicate in English?almost without problems

How does public transport work in the city?mostly fine

And what about transport outside the city?I've seen better

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket? As for public transport as such - in Greece you can find the timetable, but in most cases it doesn't run on time, you have to go to the bus stop and wait for it to arrive (but it does). I recommend looking for everything on Google maps, you have to secure your ticket at the window in the metro - yeah quite a challenge, because they won't accept sic to get a student fare, so you have to patiently go from window to window and pray that someone will sell you a discounted ticket (but it's possible, it took us 4 days xd), if you can, take the metro instead (it will arrive on time).

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?yes

How do you rate the availability of healthcare?neutral

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city?In Athens, the classics - Acropolis, the square and the Syntagma area - the Parliament, the gardens (the centre of Athens), Mount Lycabettus/Lykavitos, the Olympic stadium (the old one), the Plaka and Monastiraki district below Acropolis, the port of Piraeus, the beaches (Glyfada top), and then just wander the streets and enjoy.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Islands - Hydra (top) and Santorini, Delphi + Arachova town, monasteries in Meteora (recommended through day tours, app Get your Guide), Thessaloniki, seaside town Napflio

Share your best experience:The island of Hydra was amazing, no cars - they have donkeys there. It's a small island that can be reached by ferry, beautiful unspoiled nature, clear sea.

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?no

How did you get to the place?Plane

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip? The airport is quite far away from the centre, but you can easily get there by metro directly from the airport (or by bus), it's a southern state, so the mentality is completely different - time is basically irrelevant, nobody is in a hurry, nobody is stressed, actually they don't care about anything xd, sometimes (read often) there are garbage men on strike, in general, watch out for demonstrations in the centre and strikes (the mhd doesn't run then - there is a great Drozd station for that, which will send you an alert if there is a strike or if the mhd won't run), there was an earthquake there about twice, but nothing terrible (you might just get a little shock from it), as for accommodation, if you go somewhere, be prepared that the accommodation might look nice only in the picture :( it was often uncleaned, garbage not taken out, I didn't trust the towels much, same with the sheets and blankets - we had duvets in maybe 1 accommodation, and they have old barracks where it's really cold, warm socks, generally warm clothes a must have if you go in autumn/winter.

Can you pay by card?in most places

What not to forget when packing?Maybe your Czech medicines if you are often sick.

🥳Summary
Whew, what a ride! 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for taking the time to complete our survey and for sharing your unique experience. Just one last thing. 🙏 How would you summarize your trip in one or two sentences?A mentally cleansing trip to a place where there is no time or stress!
