🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?no

Does the university offer enough courses in English?neutral

Are your credits converted?no

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?The teaching is mainly Western-style; one hardly encounters memorization at all. Various projects and multi-day papers are the most common means of completion. Courses are not divided into lectures and seminars. What one is very unpleasantly surprised by is the 21 working days for revision, and even this long period is very often not respected by the teachers. Therefore, it can happen that you arrive home and still not have everything corrected.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly?Yes, there are many. From Welcome Week to various other events during the semester. Formal or informal. If someone is interested, they can attend an event pretty much every week.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?Psychological counseling
Crisis intervention
Support for LGBTQ+ students (e.g., safe spaces, counseling services)

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:35000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?no

Do you have any tips on how to find private accommodation? No, just like anywhere else - search blindly and copy around.

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?You have to come prepared - it's Norway. It won't be cheap:-)

Do you have any tips on how to save money?Shopping at cheaper supermarkets, watching for discounts. Shopping for discounted products in mensa before closing time. Using the TooGoodToGo or Foodora apps (if there are good deals).

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?perfectly

How does public transport work in the city?mostly fine

And what about transport outside the city?mostly fine

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket? The SkyssBillet and Entur apps, both very clear and simple.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?no

🤠Help create the perfect bucket list
What is a must-see in the city?In the city itself, mainly Bryggen and the royal residence Gamlehaugen. In the vicinity all nature - e.g. the hike "De syv fjell" - the seven mountains of Bergen.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Within driving distance of Trolltunga, Preikestolen, Kjerag, Voss, Geilo, Finsee... by plane, then definitely Lofoten and Lapland.

Share your best experience:Hike to Trolltunga followed by camping - we had the opportunity to see a beautiful sunrise, which we enjoyed on our own at one of Norway's most visited tourist spots.

💅A nugget of wisdom to make the life easier
Did you need to handle a visa?no

How did you get to the place?Plane

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip? There is no direct flight from the Czech Republic to Bergen (as of 12/2025 the closest is from Krakow). Most people fly from Bratislava via Oslo, from Vienna via Oslo, or from Prague via Oslo or Copenhagen.

Can you pay by card?everywhere

What not to forget when packing? When packing, it's important to think about what I want to eat and do on the spot. If I want to go hiking a lot, I need to pack the appropriate things. If I want to go to Lofoten or Lapland in autumn, I also need to pack very warm things.
