🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?they have tons

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?In my opinion, the teaching at Universität Regensburg is generally comparable to MUNI in content, form and quality - lectures and seminars are held here and the course is then concluded with an exam.

What is probably the difference is that here professors organise seminars on a given topic in the course from time to time, which are for a smaller number of students and there, for example, a certain interesting issue is discussed within the course, in courses for law students, for example, a court case. I, for example, took part in a seminar in a human rights course on the Éditions Plon v. France case, which was very interesting.
Such more intimate seminars are not organized to such an extent at Masaryk University (at least at the Faculty of Law), although the MUNI Faculty of Law offers a deeper understanding of a certain issue in another form, e.g. through a huge offer of summer schools.

Does the university offer international students' programs and activities outside of lectures and seminars to help them integrate more quickly?Yes, there are a large number of societies at UR, e.g. ESN, then within individual faculties and other organisations. These organisations organise a large number of student events, which I have participated in myself and through which I have made a lot of new friends.

The International Office just organised orientation weeks, which helped me a lot. During these weeks, we got to know the course of study in detail and everything was explained to us very clearly - registration of courses, conditions for successful completion of the courses, along with a warning about possible pitfalls, and from extra-curricular matters such as living in Regensburg, the question of health insurance and other organizational issues.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?Psychological counseling
Barrier-free access to classrooms and dormitories
Interpretation services
Special aids and technologies (e.g., text-to-speech software, hearing aids)
Special examination conditions (e.g., extended time, quiet rooms)
Crisis intervention
Support for LGBTQ+ students (e.g., safe spaces, counseling services)

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:15000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?yes

Do you have any tips on how to save money? To save money, I recommend eating at the university canteen, the prices are very reasonable. To save money, I recommend the Netto supermarket chain, you can buy food there at prices similar to those in the Czech Republic. Here it is good to point out that most shops in Germany are closed on Sundays. In Regensburg, for example, the only grocery store that remains open is the Edeka store at the main train station, which is, however, more expensive. Therefore, if a student wants to save money on food, I recommend buying food for Sunday on Saturday so that he or she doesn't have to go to the more expensive Edeka at the main station.

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?perfectly

How does public transport work in the city?runs like clockwork

And what about transport outside the city?neutral

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket? For transport within Regensburg, I recommend downloading the RVV app, where you can find connections, buy a ticket, etc.
I used to use the Deutsche Bahn website to search for intercity transport. However, I recommend buying a ticket at the station, as the website is not very clear.

Alternatively, there is the option to buy the so-called Deutschlandticket, which works for all city and regional connections throughout Germany, and there is also the option to buy the student version, which costs €18.67 (the standard one costs €58). You just need to cancel your subscription by the 10th of the month if you don't want to buy this one the next month, otherwise the ticket is automatically purchased and you can't withdraw from the contract anymore.
