🎓Hit the books! How do you rate the university experience?
Can you enroll in a course where you can learn the local language?yes

Does the university offer enough courses in English?manageable

Are your credits converted?no

Was there anything in the teaching methods that surprised you?I only had four courses enrolled, but more time was spent on them. They were 2-4 times a week, and there were various papers and midterms throughout the semester. The grades and final grade were mostly based on the work already done during the semester, and there weren't as many exams at the end. Compared to MUNI, I found it more enjoyable than our usual 10 courses per semester and exams at the end of the semester.

In which areas does the university offer support for students with special needs and strive to be inclusive?I haven’t noticed

💸Did you have to rob the bank?
Try to take a guess at what your monthly expenditures were:10000 CZK/month

Did you stay in dorms?no

Do you have any tips on how to find private accommodation?I'm sure it's fine through some friends or students who have been there if you can. Unfortunately I had a bad experience and although I searched for accommodation through Idealist, which seems like a good search tool, I had to spend a week in a hotel after I arrived. I definitely recommend the personal tours on site!

What about unexpected expenses? Did anything surprise you?I wouldn't say unexpected expenses, but you have to take into account a refundable deposit for accommodation.

Do you have any tips on how to save money?Get a Barik card for public transport right from the start, ideally a personalised one.
Shopping in supermarkets (Lidl) and cooking at home for several days.
Buy second-hand equipment from second-hand shops or Ikea and Pepco.

🗺 Learn the ropes in a new city
How well did you manage to communicate in English?with gestures

How does public transport work in the city?mostly fine

And what about transport outside the city?mostly fine

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?I mostly searched for connections via Google Maps, the fare is then bought via Barik card (as we are used to from Brno "Beep and go"), which is recharged in vending machines.

Did you deal with any health issues during your stay?no

Share your best experience:I love nature and animals, so my best experience and favourite place was the hill of Monte Arraiz, which had a beautiful view of the city, the sea and the sunsets. In addition, it was possible to meet cows, donkeys and horses. One day, when it was a hot day, I was walking up the path and there was a cow at the water tap. When I turned on the water, she started drinking. That was a lovely and memorable moment for me.
