Can you describe the role you held during your internship?Event planning and organisation within the international office of Karadeniz technical university.

What specific responsibilities and tasks did you do during your internship?I organized events for international and local students, prepared a short guide book about the city and the university for incoming students, presented information about the Czech Republic, participated in the presentation of the Erasmus+ programme and shared my experience.

Do you have tips on how to make a great impression on the institution?Good level of English, experience in using canva and designing social media posts, be open to working with student clubs.

How competitive was the selection process? Did you have to go through an application procedure?I had an interview where we talked about my experience and the expectations for the internship to be mutually beneficial.

Why would you recommend students do an internship?Step out of their comfort zone, improve their English and maybe even learn another language, like I did unexpectedly in Turkish. And they will also find that the level of education varies a lot from country to country, and they can feel "smarter", appreciate their skills that they took for granted before.

If yes, what were they?Buying new shoes and a jacket :D

Do you have any tips on how to save money during the internship?Go to the canteen, make friends with the locals and go where they go, check the weather beforehand and take your clothes accordingly so you don't have to buy locally.

Where to find connections? How to buy a ticket?It is necessary to ask the locals, transport is not marked on google maps, the moove it app works, or the web obilte for connections outside the city, it is possible to buy a ticket online.

What is a must-see in the city?Beach and coastline, try the local desserts.

What are the must-visit trip destinations?Sumela monastery, Uzungöl.

Share your best experience:Every sunset and sunrise I've spent here, because sunsets by the sea are just different than ours :) it's hard to pick the best experience, I'd say two whole months here. Overall I was surprised by the hospitality and friendliness of the Turks towards foreigners, even though most of the locals here in the east don't speak much English, they always tried to help me or guide me where I needed to go.

Is there anything to watch out for before the trip?You must have a valid passport, to travel directly to Trabzon you must make sure that you change in Istanbul at the same airport. Get an esim before you arrive, roaming is really expensive here. I recommend to set up Revolut, you can pay by card everywhere, but the conversion fees of Czech banks are quite high.
